Physiotherapy - or more specifically Musculoskeletal (MSK) Physiotherapy - is a profession that can assess, diagnose, and treat conditions, pain, and injury of muscles, bones, joints, nerves, tendons, ligaments, cartilage, and spinal discs - in any part of the body.

Appointments may involve:
- a spoken assessment where you and your physiotherapist will talk about your injury/condition
- a physical examination where your physiotherapist will observe, move, and apply special tests to the injured area to understand it and guide treatment
- manual treatments such as joint mobilization and soft tissue techniques
- therapeutic exercise/rehabilitation such as resistance/weight training, or even something as simple as walking
- adjunct treatments, such as muscle stimulation, BFR, or shockwave, among others

Your physiotherapist can also, when required, refer you on for:
- scans (CT scans, X-rays, MRI, and ultrasound) when more information is required than a spoken or physical assessment can provide
- additional specialist treatments such as injections into a joint
- input from other specialist practitioners such as Surgeons or other specialist Doctors when it is suspected that more than Physiotherapy is needed
- Occasionally you may be referred back to your GP for additional tests/input, such as blood tests, if it is suspected that you may need more than MSK input

Please make sure you wear loose fitting clothing that you can comfortably show the area of your symptoms - for example, with a knee injury, wear shorts that show the whole knee joint and allow you to fully bend and straighten your knee.

Tobar has been a health and fitness professional since 2009 when he first qualified as a personal trainer. He graduated as a Physiotherapist from the University of Hertfordshire in 2020 and has been working in Musculoskeletal (MSK) practice ever since.

He is passionate about exercise accessibility, and believes that everyone should be able to have the opportunities and resources to allow them to be active.

If you have pain, an injury, or a long term Musculoskeletal condition that is preventing you from doing the things you love - Tobar would be delighted to find ways to get you back to doing what matters most to you.

Tobar is also trained to be able to refer for CT scans, MRI scans, X-rays, and ultrasound scans, and is currently the only person on the island qualified to provide P-BFR (Personalised Blood Flow Restriction) training for rehab.
